Yesterday morning, I sent text messages to my clients, warning them not to freak out when they see me wearing a face mask in the clinic.
I also encouraged everyone to bring their own mask along if they have one to help keep our community as safe as possible.
To be honest, I was a little anxious about my text message. I was half expecting some angry responses. Perhaps some people telling me to get stuffed or scoffing at me for wearing a mask myself.
To my delight, nearly every client came in wearing their own mask, many donning them for the very first time. A couple of clients apologised for not having masks, but they were grateful for the encouragement to wear one.
I was a little overwhelmed with how positive the response was from our community. As a practitioner, it means a lot to have your support.
Thank you for sharing the awkwardness of wearing a mask for the first time.
